PELHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin a resurfacing and striping project on U.S. 31 at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The project will include parts of Hoover and Pelham. Resurfacing will begin at U.S. 31 from the Jefferson County line and go south to the Bishop Creek Bridge, which is near the Pelham Civic Complex, according to a news release from ALDOT.

Work on the 2-mile stretch will be done at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The project is expected to be complete by the end of fall.

Motorists are asked to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs and use extreme caution in this area.
