William Wallace Pate, Sr., age 87, of Shelby, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12 at South Shelby Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Brasher and Rev. David Warren officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12 at the church. Burial will follow in Shelby Garden of Rest. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mr. Pate is preceded in death by his parents, William Otis and Ola Mae Pate; son, Ronny Pate; and brothers, Donald Pate and Ervin Connell.

He is survived by his sons, Donny Pate (Wanda) and Butch Pate (Linda); daughters, Paris “Patti” Carlton and Stephanie Young; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Nina Thornburg and Mary Faye Pate; and other family and friends.
