CHELSEA – Another wreck plagued the U.S. 280 area in the city of Chelsea on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

The accident occurred around 2:11 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 280 and Shelby County 43 when a tractor-trailer plowed into an ALDOT vehicle.

According to a press release the only two injuries reported were minor injuries suffered by ALDOT employees who were transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.

Alabama State Troopers were able to clear the scene relatively quickly and keep U.S. 280 open during this time.

This intersection is no stranger to bad wrecks and is a major concern of Chelsea residents, as are many of the other major U.S. 280 intersections in the city. Traffic safety at these intersections was a major topic among council and mayoral candidates during this year’s election.
