FROM STAFF REPORTS

COLUMBIANA – Shelby County’s Free Landfill Day will be Oct. 1 at the Shelby County Landfill, at 401 Landfill Road, from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The landfill sits off Shelby County 70 between Columbiana and Calera. All participants must be unloaded and exited by 3:30 p.m.

In an effort to assist Shelby County residents with their fall cleanup projects, the Shelby County Commission has designated this as a day to dispose of yard and household debris at no cost.

There is no limit to how much trash residents can drop off. Residents will be allowed to make multiple trips to the landfill to drop off trash.

Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division asks that residents cover and secure their loads while traveling to the landfill to prevent litter and trash from being deposited roadside.

The free day is for Shelby County residents only. All commercial, business or out-of-county customers will be charged the standard rates.

If you have any questions, please call Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division at 669-3737.
