ALABASTER – Pet owners and their canine friends will have a chance to get together while enjoying a slew of dog-friendly offerings this weekend at Alabaster’s Veterans Park.

The 10th annual Bark in the Park event, which is hosted by the Alabaster Parks and Recreation department and will benefit the Shelby Humane Society, will be held at Veterans Park off Alabama 119 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Admission is free, but all dogs are required to be on a leash.

Bark in the Park will feature pet photos, kids’ activities, an Auburn vs. Alabama fundraiser, pet ID tags, live music, food and treats for dogs and people, Smokey Sam’s Barbecue truck, Repicci’s Gelato truck, a Shelby Humane Society tent with T-shirts and donation opportunities and more.

This will mark the 10th anniversary for Alabaster’s Bark in the Park event, which has drawn thousands of pets and their owners over the years. The first Bark in the Park was held in October 2007 after the city and the Shelby Humane Society partnered to create the pet-centered festival.
