PELHAM – Warehouse 31 is officially opened for its fourth haunted house season, running from Friday, Sept. 30 to Nov. 5.

The haunted house, which features nearly 30,000 square feet of twists and turns, has two attractions – Rigamortis and 3D Experience. Rigamortis is a traditional style haunted house located inside the warehouse and has 50 scenes of “terror and mayhem,” according to the Warehouse 31 website.

The 3D Experience is packed with 3D artwork, puzzle pieces, a tunnel of doom and some bloodthirsty creatures.

Owner Jason Sills said he has added to and remodeled the attractions.

“I always try to change it up and freshen it up year after year to keep people coming back,” Sills said. “We work on the attractions on and off all year, and definitely a lot in last couple of months leading up to opening day.”

Sills said Warehouse 31, located at 3050 Lee St., opened in 2013 and has about 20,000 visitors every season.

In addition to offering top notch Halloween horror, Sills said giving back to the community is also important to him.

“We’re always trying to find ways to help the community and give back,” he said.

Warehouse 31 has teamed up with Life South to give free tickets to the first 10 donors during scheduled blood drives on Oct. 6 at Wal-Mart in Leeds from 1-6 p.m., Oct. 10 at Wal-Mart in Alabaster from noon to 6 p.m., Oct. 14 at CVS in Warrior from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 24 at CVS in Calera from noon to 6 p.m. and Oct. 29 at Warehouse 31.

Sills is also offering local high schools a chance to raise money for their school. He has agreed to give $5 per ticket sold to the school. Each school participating in the fundraiser will receive a promotional code for people to enter when they’re buying tickets online.

Warehouse 31 will keep track of how many tickets are purchased throughout the season using the school’s promotional code, and at the end of the season checks will be sent to the schools.

“It’s easy because you really don’t have to do anything except let people know to use your promo code,” Sills said.
