Winners of 8th Adult Juried Art Show announced

Congratulations to the winners of the 8th Annual Adult Juried Art Show!

The winners were announced on Friday, Sept. 30 at the opening gallery reception for the show.

Twenty-six local artists submitted more than 100 pieces of art work for consideration for this show.

Of the selections 44 pieces were chosen and judged by retired University of Montevallo professor and artist Ted Metz.

The selections show just how talented some area residents are.

The winners include: Best in Show – Nelson Grice, bronze sculpture, Storytime; Painting – Robin Miller, oil painting, Afternoon at Mimi’s; Photography – Gary Ricketts, Bygone Luxury; 3D Design-Teresa Wamble, carved gourd, Many Jenny; Multi-media – Diane Hathcock, abstract, Evening News; Drawing-Andrew Tyson, pencil drawing, Baby Sarah; Director’s Choice-Butch Oglesby, photograph, Sloss; Staff Choice-Danielle Tickell, watercolor and ink pen on paper, Nature of Vanity.

The gallery show will be on display until Oct. 27.

The Shelby County Arts Council gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
