ALABASTER — First United Methodist Church of Alabaster is providing free family fun with Trunk or Treat on Oct. 29 in the church’s Restore parking lot.

Youth pastor Andrew Gamblin said the event will host a variety of activities for the whole family.

“We’ll have inflatables, food, carnival games and of course the traditional trunk decorations,” Gamblin said. “It should be a great night.”

Gamblin said the church’s contemporary worship band will provide live music for the event and members of the congregation will decorate their car trunks and hand out candy to the trunk-or-treaters. Gamblin said they will have a line of cars that will be giving out non-food treats so kids with food allergies can still participate.

He said the church will provide free hot dogs and the Lazy Boy BBQ truck will be there to offer other food options available for purchase.

Gamblin said the trunk or treat is an opportunity for the entire family to have fun and a chance to have fellowship with the congregation and community. He said in his three years at the church he has always looked forward to the event and the crowd it brings.

“We’ve had a great turn out on the past,” Gamblin said. “We’re planning on between 500-1,000 people to show up this year.”

He said they had to cancel due to rain last year but have an indoor contingency plan set up this year.

“If it starts to rain we’ll just pack up and move inside,” Gamblin said.
