R.H. “Jack” Mitchell, Sr., age 92, of Calera, passed away Monday, Oct. 17.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19 at South Shelby Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 at South Shelby Baptist Church with Rev. David Warren, Rev. Joel Miller, and Rev. Bill Phares officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinelawn Gardens. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mr. Mitchell enjoyed fishing and coon hunting.

Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his brothers, J.D., Tom, Joedy, Johnny, Bobby, and Reeder; and sisters, Teresa and Ola.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Mitchell; sons, Robert Mitchell and Billy Mitchell (Debbie); grandchildren, Trinity (Young) Childress, Tara (Greg) Nash, and Tamara (Steven) Hobson; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Mitchell, and James Mitchell (Martha); sister, Marjorie Golembski; and numerous other family and friends.
