Local law enforcement agencies including the Alabaster Police Department, Helena Police Department, Hoover Police Department, Montevallo Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the annual “No Shave November,” contest to support the Wings of Hope Pediatric Foundation.

For the month of November, police officers will be allowed to grow beards in exchange to raise money for the Wings of Hope Pediatric Foundation, which helps give families with a terminally ill child more time to spend together by providing services such as house cleaning, lawn maintenance, meals, financial assistance paying bills and more.

In 2014, numerous law enforcement agencies raised a grand total of $13,653 for the Hope Pediatric Foundation and in 2015 agencies raised a total of $45,000.

Law enforcement agencies will look to raise even more money in 2016 as this year a new event has been added to the “No Shave November” fundraiser.

This year, a new addition has been added to the fundraiser to help generate even more funds in the form of an online auction.

The online auction contains numerous items up for bid including VIP passes to the Honda Grand Prix, a Coors Light custom beer dispenser, a Corona Grizzly cooler, signed memorabilia from music artists, Corona Extra items including signs, a cornhole board set and numerous sports signed memorabilia including signed items from Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, Alabama head coach Nick Saban, boxer Deontae Wilder, former Auburn Heisman trophy winning quarterback Pat Sullivan, Samford head coach Chris Hatcher and Nascar driver Austin Dillon.

All of the money spent in the online auction will go directly toward the children and families at the Wings of Hope Pediatric Foundation. The auction will end on Dec. 6 at 8 p.m.
