Jags win thriller over Homewood

Spain Park (3-1) defeated Homewood on Friday, Nov. 18, after Xavier Blanchard got fouled laying the ball in with two seconds left to tie the game at 62-62 and then drained the free throw to convert the three-point play and give the Jags a 63-62 win. Jamal Johnson led the Jags with 32 points in the game.

Splash Mountain: Eagles start hot

Oak Mountain (3-0) is off to a perfect start after taking down 7A county foe Thompson 63-58 on Friday, Nov. 18 and notching another win over Holy Family Catholic 68-31 the following day in the first round of the Bryant Bank Classic. The Eagles have used the three ball early in the season to outscore their opponents by an average of 21.3 points per game.

Pelham falls to Mountain Brook

Despite Justin Allison and Alex Reese combining for 36 points and 12 rebounds, the Panthers fell to probably the best basketball team in the state in the Mountain Brook Spartans on Friday, Nov. 18 by a score of 60-47. Reese had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks in the game, while Allison added 20 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds in the game. This marked the season debut for Reese an Alabama commit after suffering an injury that put him in a boot a few weeks back. Trendon Watford, who is considered a top 5 player in the country for the class of 2019, led the Spartans with 24 points and 7 rebounds, also adding two assists and two steals. The Panthers are now 1-1 on the season as they head into the Hoopsgiving Tournament in Georgia Friday, Nov. 25.
