David Marcus Ihle
Russellville, Tenn.

David Marcus Ihle, age 76, of Russellville, Tenn., formerly of Auburn and Shelby, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

He was a native of Chicago, Ill., and spent most of his childhood in Clinton, Okla., where he graduated from Clinton High School in 1958. He was a graduate of the Oklahoma State University where he earned a master’s degree. He joined the US Navy and retired after serving 20 years. He later became a meteorologist with NOAA. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He was an avid Auburn University football fan. He enjoyed working with the Auburn Soccer Association. He loved spending time on the water with his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sharon K. Ihle; parents, Ernst and Meta Ihle; brother, Herbert Ihle; and sister, Rosa Ihle.

He is survived by his sons, Marcus (Kristen) Ihle and Craig (Gillian) Ihle; and grandchildren, Haven, Gretchen, Jocelyn and Charlotte Ihle.

A military and funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Brownell officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30-5 p.m. until time of service. Interment will follow Friday, Nov. 25 at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
