Greystone Elementary students thankful for family, kittens, everything in between

HOOVER – Parents and grandparents joined children at Greystone Elementary School on Nov. 16 for a Thanksgiving meal.

GES Principal Stacey Stocks said about 250 parents and visitors attended for an opportunity to eat a meal of turkey, dressing and other traditional holiday favorites with their children.

Third graders in Kathaleen Rogers’ class told what they are thankful for and what they enjoy about the Thanksgiving holiday:

  • Micah Fox said he was thankful for God and his parents. “They cook my dinner,” he said and added that his family would celebrate the holiday with his parents’ church production team.
  • Loghan Glover said she is thankful for her family, which will celebrate at her cousin’s house.
  • Sanika Nair said she is thankful for her family and enjoys the holiday. “I just like how we all sit together and talk and pray,” she said.
  • Levi Hughes said he is thankful for his family, friends, God, his life and being at Greystone Elementary.
  • Daniel Fuller said he is thankful for his parents, food and water, clothes, shoes and family.
  • Anna Kate Latham said she is thankful for her family, friends, a roof over her head and food. “I like to eat turkey, and my grandmother makes those great orange rolls,” she said.
  • Ashley Piatti said she is thankful for her parents, pets (Scooter the rabbit and Max the Boxer bulldog) and 14 cousins.
  • Yosep Kim said he is thankful for his family, friends and clothes.
  • Xander McClure said he is thankful for his family, being alive and the opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. “My favorite part is the pies or the turkey,” he said. “We have pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie.”
  • Brayden Briles said he is thankful for family, food, the earth and friends.
  • Jenna Hutchison said she is thankful for her family and her favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal: macaroni and cheese.
  • Bailey Morris said she is thankful for friends, family, teachers and kittens. “I love kittens,” she said.
  • Olivia Wilkes said she is thankful for family and friends.
  • Addison Spencer said she is thankful for her family being able to foster dogs. “We do it every now and then,” she said. “We can’t have one all the time because we’re so busy.”
  • Alma Hurst said she is thankful for her family, dog, two cats, barn owl, friends, school, teachers and principal.
  • Blake Ervin said he is thankful for being alive and is looking forward to Thanksgiving because he plays board games with his family.
  • Chihaya Morimoto said he is thankful for having a lot of friends.
  • Ayano Imazu said she is thankful for her family, friends and for being able to go back to her home in Japan in a couple of years.
  • Drew Robertson said he is thankful for his parents and his brother Harrison, who is a first grader, and the two have enjoyed playing the video game Lego Dimensions together.

•Talal Alazemi said he is thankful for school. “It has a lot of fun things to do like recess and gym,” Alazemi said and added that he has also enjoyed learning multiplication, such as nine times eight. “Now I know it’s 72.”
