HELENA–It’s a rare thing to happen, but on Monday, Dec. 5, all 13 varsity players on the Helena Huskies boys basketball team recorded at least 1 point in the team’s 64-40 victory over the McAdory Yellow Jackets.

Helena started fast and trailed just once in the game early when the score was 3-2 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

In the first half, Helena got strong play from Colton Hood and Nate Andrews who both scored 8 points each in the half. Hood finished the game as the Huskies leading scorer with 12 points.

Helena led 29-22 at halftime but didn’t really extend their lead for good until the third quarter.

The Huskies created multiple turnovers and turned them into points to go on a 21-6 run to put the game out of reach. Justin Stuckey led Helena in the third quarter with 9 points and Devin Ervin also added 7 points in the quarter.

“I was proud of that run in the third (quarter) when we were creating turnovers but we were also capitalizing on them,” Helena head coach Chris Laatsch said. “That’s one of the things we talk a lot about is being efficient after creating turnovers and I thought our guys did that outscoring them 21-6 in the third.”

Leading 50-28 heading into the final quarter, Laatsch went deep into his bench to allow everyone to get playing time and contribute which resulted in every player recording at least 1 point in the game in the 64-40 win.

“I was proud of our kids effort rebounding and the passion defensively,” Laatsch said. “Of course it’s fun when you can play everyone and everyone can contribute and everyone can score and everybody can play well. So, it was just kind of our night tonight.”
