A 37-year-old mother of two was killed in Highland Lakes subdivision on Wednesday, Dec. 14, according to police.

Constance Leigh Woolweaver’s death is being investigated as a homicide, according to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, which also reassured nearby residents that investigators do not believe the crime was a random act.

“I do not believe there is a related threat to any of the residents in Highland Lakes or other local communities related to Ms. Woolweaver’s death,” Sheriff John Samaniego said in the release. “Her intentional death was the result of a calculated act, and our investigators are making progress identifying her killer. This was a senseless act, and I am very saddened for her family and friends.”

Authorities responded to the 100 Block of Sheffield Way at about 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 14 after a report of a death, according to the SCSO.

Capt. Jeff Hartley said the victim was a mother of two children under age 12.

The case remains under investigation.
