HOOVER – The project to replace the roof at the Hoover Public Safety Center off Valleydale Road will cost about $11,000 more than expected.

Hoover’s City Council approved a change order in the amount of $11,817 for the project at its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The new total cost of the project is $1.05 million.

The addition to the contract calls for the contractor, Irondale-based Tecta America Southeast LLC, to install additional lightweight concrete and steel deck in areas discovered to be deteriorated during tear-off.

The change order will not affect the anticipated completion date of the project.

About 1,300 square feet of steel deck will be replaced, at a price of $9 per square foot.

In other business, the council:
