Eloise “Sunshine” West Wintter, age 95, of Maylene, passed away Monday, Jan. 16.

She was born in rural Bibb County, one of ten children to George Washington and Lesta Sanders West. She was a graduate of West Blocton High School. She married Archie Herman Wintter on Aug. 12, 1950 and they spent the next 54 years happily married. She attended Broadmoor Baptist Church, then Union Baptist Church. She loved to sew, quilt, cook, and take care of her children and home.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Adrian Van McGlawn; and all nine siblings.

She is survived by her son, Archie Kent Wintter (Pam) of Alto, Georgia; daughter, Sue Wintter McGlawn of Maylene; grandchildren, Hans Wintter (Jamie), Anna Wintter Komoto (Masaki), Kathryn “Katie” Olivia McGlawn, Matthew Tyler McGlawn, and Bradley West McGlawn; great-grandchildren, Hans Wintter, Jr., Sebastian Wintter, and Akina Eloise Komoto; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at Helena City Cemetery.
