Chelsea Youth Club baseball and softball registration opened online on Thursday, Jan 5.

“Sports in Chelsea bring the community together. They serve as a gathering place, every night of the week,” said Chelsea city councilman David Ingram. “It keeps kids active, and they get out and make friends.”

Parents were also able to register their children for baseball in person at the uniform fittings on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Chelsea Youth Baseball Fields and on Sunday, Jan. 16 at the Chelsea Community Center.

Baseball registration is open to kids from 4 to 14 years old.

For baseball, there is an $85 registration fee for the T-ball team. For all other teams, a $150 fee will be charged for the first registered kid, a $135 fee will be charged for the second registered kid and a $120 fee for the third kid or more. Baseball registration ends on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Baseball evaluations will be on Saturday, Jan. 21, Sunday, Jan. 22 and Sunday, Jan 29. Final coach selections will also take place on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Baseball practices will begin on Saturday, Feb. 11, and games will begin on Saturday, March 11.

According to the CYC website, “The goal of the CYC Baseball Program is to provide a program where kids can learn the fundamentals of baseball, have fun and learn to compete in a team environment.”

Girls ages 5 to 12 are invited to register for CYC softball.

The registration fee for softball is $155. A $20 late fee will also be charged if a child is registered after Friday, Jan. 27. A multiplayer discount of $25 is offered for registering two or more kids.

Softball evaluations will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11. Uniform fittings will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 11 at the CYC softball fields.

Softball practices will begin on Monday, Feb. 20, and the first game will take place on Sunday, March 12.

According to the CYC website, the goal of the CYC Softball Program is to “teach the importance of good sportsmanship and the importance of teamwork,” as well as to “instruct the girls in the fundamentals of softball.”
