“David brings a wealth of experience and a track record of accomplishments in managing nonprofit organizations, including animal welfare,” said President of the Board of Directors for Shelby Humane Society Bob McArdle. “He has an excellent grasp of what is needed to achieve our strategic goals, build upon our leadership role in our community, increase adoptions, promote the use of spay and neuter surgeries, and become a resource center for the citizens and the animals of Alabama.”

While serving as executive director of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, Arias expanded low cost spay/neuter services and basic animal care. He also established new funding sources through individual donors and national grant programs, initiated a statewide companion animal disaster response program, and helped coordinate statewide legislative action in support of animal welfare issues.

Arias earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and then went on to earn his Master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama.

“I am honored and excited to have been selected as executive director of the Shelby Humane Society,” said David Arias, Executive Director for Shelby Humane Society. “I hope to continue my career serving this great community by promoting responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.”
