HELENA–Helena High School sophomore middle infielder Grace Robertson has committed to play softball at Auburn University upon graduating from HHS in 2019.

Robertson has played varsity softball since her 8th grade year at Thompson High School, and recently Robertson helped the Lady Warriors to a third place finish in the state tournament. Robertson was awarded All-Metro Player of the Year in 2016.

Robertson also plays softball for the Birmingham Bolts and posted a .369 batting average to go along with a .426 on base percentage in the 2016 spring season.

Robertson and her family moved to Helena this past summer and this is the first season she will be suiting up for the Lady Huskies where she will give the team a needed boost for their first season in the 6A classification.

Auburn has been Robertson’s dream school to attend ever since she started playing softball at the age of 6. Robertson’s dad also attended Auburn where he played football and rugby.

Auburn is arguably the hottest team in the nation in softball right now. The Tigers finished as the national runner-up in the Women’s College World Series in 2016 and finished with a program record 58 wins under the direction of head coach Clint Myers. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation at the start of the 2017 season. Robertson said she was excited to play for a program that is on the rise.

“I’m solid on my commitment to Auburn,” Robertson said. “It’s exciting because I have always wanted to go to Auburn. They finished No. 2 in the nation last year and I think they will be No. 1 soon, and I’m excited to be a part of it. It’s where I want to play.”

In addition to her stellar play on the field, Robertson also excels off the field. Robertson is a member of the National Honor Society and has a cumulative GPA of 4.12. She has completed classes in honors geometry, honors chemistry and honors english.

Robertson’s future goal is to earn a degree in the veterinary or medical field.
