FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORTH SHELBY – “Legally Blonde” is coming to Oak Mountain High School for the annual spring musical.

Showtimes are Friday, March 10 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 11 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

Travis Bender, band director; Michael Zauchin, choir director; and Amy Strickland, drama teacher, are the three co-directors of the musical.

The principle actors will be Moira Thompson (Elle Woods), Mollie Grace Wade (Margot), Rachel Cartwright (Serena), Caroline Perkins (Pillar), Bobby Coe (Emmett Forrest), Alex Shunnarah (Paulette Bonafonte), Ian Dunn (Professor Callahan), Carson Lester (Warner Huntington III), Caroline Stewart (Vivienne Kensington), Mak Pate (Brooke Windham) and Celia Brand (Enid Hoopes).

Tickets will cost $10 for students and faculty with identification, and $15 for general admission.

Thompson, the star of the musical, has been taking voice lessons since she was 8 and has been doing music and theatre since she was even younger.

“It’s fun but a lot of pressure,” Thompson said about her role.

Cartwright has been involved in music and theatre for 12 years after being inspired by watching her sister perform in “Cinderella.”

Cartwright said she “really enjoys being able to play a crazy character that is my polar opposite.”

Strickland is new at Oak Mountain and made her debut with “Romeo & Juliet.”

She attended The Savannah College of Art and Design for her B.F.A. in performing arts and the University of Montevallo for her M.Ed.

Strickland teaches theatre 1-4 and theatre tech.

Zauchin is the director of the many choirs at Oak Mountain, including the two show choirs: The Singers and The Muses.

These two co-directors chose to do this particular musical because of how many strong female voices are available from the combined choirs.
