NORTH SHELBY – The Regions Tradition announced today that 53-year-old Miguel Angel Jimenez has committed to play in the 2017 event, to be contested at Greystone Golf & Country Club the week of May 17-21. Jimenez will be making his debut at the Regions Tradition.

“We are excited to welcome Miguel as he embarks on his debut at the Regions Tradition,” said Gene Hallman of the Regions Tradition. “As one of the most recognizable names in the game, he is an exciting addition for the tournament and golf fans in the greater Birmingham area.”

Jimenez’s impressive resume consists of 21 career European Tour titles, three career PGA TOUR Champions titles – including nine top-three finishes in his first 21 PGA TOUR Champions starts. Additionally, he finished in the top-three in each of the last three senior majors of 2016, including runner-up efforts at the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship and U.S. Senior Open

The native of Málaga, Spain earned international acclaim via his four appearances as a member of the European Ryder Cup team, where he famously defeated Bubba Watson 4&3 in 2010’s Sunday singles matches to help secure a 14.5-13.5 victory.

Jimenez is recognized by his trademark ponytail and is often seen smoking a Cuban cigar during competition. The colorful Spaniard’s game is as flashy as his personality and is often known by his nickname “The Mechanic.”

This year’s championship will offer $20 Good-Any-One-Day Grounds tickets, valid each day of the tournament week or weekend. Tournament Weekly packages include five (5) Good-Any-One-Day Grounds tickets for only $80. Both ticket options are valid for Wednesday through Sunday of tournament week and tickets are available online at www.regionstradition.com.
