COLUMBIANA – A local man charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 has been indicted by a Shelby County grand jury.

Shane Edwin Gable, 36, of Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham has been charged with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and two counts of first-degree sodomy.

The indictment was dated March 21.

The crimes, all of which are felonies, are alleged to have been committed in May 2016 to June 2016.

Bonds for the crimes include $150,000 for the sexual abuse charge and $60,000 for each of the sodomy charges, for a total of $270,000.

Gable was booked into Shelby County Jail in August 2016 and remained in custody as of Wednesday, March 22.

An arraignment is scheduled for May 15.

The case has been assigned to Shelby County Circuit Judge Lara M. Alvis.
