ALABASTER – Two Thompson High School students are representing the community on a state level after they recently were named to leadership positions with the Alabama Junior ROTC and HOSA Future Health Care Professionals organizations.

Thompson Air Force Junior ROTC cadet Indy Brinkerhoff recently was named one of the state vice presidents for the Alabama ROTC Officers Association.

Through his position, Brinkerhoff will attend all Officers Association meetings, where he will plan events impacting all Junior ROTC cadets in Alabama, accomplish tasks requested by those in the chain of command and represent Alabama Junior ROTC cadets’ concerns to the state Board of Education and government officials.

He will attend the Joint Leadership Development Conference, CTE proclamation photoshoot with the governor, the Junior ROTC Leadership Conference and state officers leadership training.

As a result of being named to the position, Brinkerhoff was honored with a certificate from the Alabaster Board of Education during an April 10 meeting.

Also honored during the meeting was THS student Denver Woods, who recently was elected as the vice president of membership and competitive events for the HOSA – Future Health Care Professionals organization.

Through her position, Woods will be involved in planning and implementing programs to grow HOSA membership, will provide up-to-date membership reports at Executive Council meetings, will help determine how individual HOSA chapters should be recognized for membership achievements and will help the HOSA state advisor with recruitment to the organization.

Woods also will lead efforts to plan HOSA competitive events throughout the state, will help market and draw attendees to competitive events and plan awards ceremonies for competitive events.

“Having two of our students recognized statewide is a huge honor for our school system,” Alabaster School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said after recognizing the two students.
