Alabaster man dies after kayak incident at Montgomery’s Gunter Hill Park

MONTGOMERY – An Alabaster man died April 16 following a kayak incident at Gunter Hill Park.

According to a press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Michael Lawrence Williams, 64, was killed in a single-vessel incident during which he became displaced from the kayak he was operating on Catoma Creek in Gunter Hill Park.

Williams was wearing a personal flotation device, the release read, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No more information is available as Alabama State Troopers from the Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate the incident.
