FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORTH SHELBY – BlackWatch Sports Performance will host the BlackWatch Block Party on Saturday, May 13 at the business’ location at 19220 U.S. 280.

This family-friendly event is free to the public and will include food trucks from Dreamland BBQ and Frio’s Gourmet Popsicles.

There will also be an inflatable from Deborah’s party rentals, free sports games for kids, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and an adult kickball tournament.

“We have grown so much as a company in our first year and are thankful for the support we have received from the surrounding community,” BlackWatch Membership Director Mary Kate Smith said. “This is our chance to plan an event that is fun for the Birmingham community and give back.”

During the event, the newly renovated BlackWatch Sports building will be open to the public for tours, sports training and fitness demonstrations, cryotherapy sessions and more.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet BlackWatch Coach Willie Smith, see his Olympic track and field gold medals and learn about his speed training techniques!

Both block party tournaments—kickball and basketball—are a chance for some healthy competition. The winning teams of both tournaments will receive cash prizes.

3-on-3 athletes will get the chance to play on the old Bartow Arena court, where past basketball legends have played, including Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan.

Registration for 3-on-3 is $25 per team, and registration for kickball is $30 for team.
