Both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 65 were closed Saturday because of a wreck.

I-65 was closed between exits 234 and 238, according to the Alabaster Police Department.

A truck carrying gasoline overturned near the 237-mile marker, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel.

There were no injuries, Daniel said.

APD alerted the public of the closing at about 4 p.m. and said the interstate was expected to remain closed for a few hours.

Northbound motorists were advised to detour from I-65 at Exit 234, take a right onto Hwy. 87, reconnect with U.S. 31, take a left onto U.S. 31 and return to I-65 at Exit 238.

Southbound motorists were advised to detour off at Exit 238, take a left onto U.S. 31 Southbound, take a right onto Hwy. 87 after about 3 miles and reconnect to I-65 at Exit 234.
