Joe Fancher, age 86, a life-long resident of Wilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, June 26.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for the railroad then served as mayor of Wilton for 15 years. He loved fishing, gardening, and Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Ann Smith Fancher; his son, Darryl Joe Fancher, Sr.; and his daughter, Laura Ann Boothe.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Carley Choat of Pensacola, Floriday, and Darryl “Joey” Joe Fancher, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Colt Choat, Gabrielle Suggs and Aeryn Suggs; nieces, Gaynell Tucker and Barbara Bagby.

His visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) on Thursday, June 29 from 10-11 a.m. His graveside service will follow at Montevallo City Cemetery. Bro. Tom Hammett will officiate.
