Dorothy “Christine” Cobb Joiner, 85, of Indian Springs, passed away Monday afternoon, June 26. The Chilton County native was a life-long resident of the Birmingham area.

Mrs. Joiner was the second employee at the Pelham post office. Later, after her retirement as postmaster at the Shelby post office, she actively volunteered at the Shelby Baptist Association’s Ministry Center in Columbiana. She was a long-time member of Indian Springs First Baptist Church, where she served as church clerk, a GA’s leader, and a Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Joiner was predeceased by her parents, James Oscar Cobb and Urell Little Cobb; and sister, Clara Nell Cobb Thomas.

Survivors include Mrs. Joiner’s loving husband of 67 years, Hubert Karl Joiner; two sons, Judge James Michael Joiner (Cathy) and Dr. Darrell Wade Joiner (Carla); and four grandchildren, Carson Wade Joiner, Logan Carl Joiner, Christina Joiner Allinder (Jeremy), and Caroline Elizabeth Joiner.

The funeral service was Friday, June 30 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Burial was at Pinelawn Gardens Cemetery in Columbiana. Pastor Charlie Dale officiated.
