Mr. Lester Ray White, 88, of Bremen, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 9 with his family at his side.

Ray spent most of his life in Alabaster. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He was employed at Vulcan Materials for 37 years. Ray loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was a member of Alabaster First Baptist until he moved to Georgia in 2008, where he became a member of Bremen First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Melton White; his mother and father, Jesse and Myra White; sister, Vera Ellison; and brother, Homer White.

He is survived by two sons, Ken (Suzanne) White of Leeds and Kerry (Elaine) White of Bremen, Georgia; six grandchildren, Chris (Sharon) White, Bremen, Georgia, Jennifer (Keith) Hicks, Buchanan, Georgia, Kimberly (Austin) Hood, Helena, Kacie White, Helena, Nathan (Mandy) Acre, Leeds, and Nick (Shelby) Acre, Leeds; four great grandchildren, Emma and Barrett Hood, Madison Acre, and Aerilyn Acre; and brothers, Gene White, Bill White (Dorothy) and Larry White (Renee).

Funeral services will be conducted at Rocko Funeral Home of Montevallo on Wednesday, July 12 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tom Hammett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chris White, Keith Hicks, Austin Hood, Nathan Acre, Nick Acre, and Seth Denman. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Payne.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) with service immediately following at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Elliotsville Cemetery, Alabaster.
