ACS sets back-to-school events

ALABASTER – Schools throughout Alabaster will hold registrations and back-to-school events over the next few weeks in preparation for the first day of classes on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Alabaster City Schools Student Services Coordinator Dorann Tanner said the system is encouraging parents to register this summer to avoid lengthy lines at the schools on the first day of classes.

Parents and homeowners who need to complete a residence affidavit should come to the ACS central office on the second floor of City Hall at 1953 Municipal Way during the week of July 24-28 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 1-4 p.m. or on Saturday, July 29, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The city’s individual schools also are holding the following events:

-Creek View Elementary School has registration for new students and kindergarteners on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8-11 a.m.. The school is also holding its Warrior Day on Aug. 1 from 7-11 a.m. and 4-7 p.m.

-Meadow View Elementary School has registration for new students and kindergartners Mondays-Thursdays from 7 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. and Fridays from 7-11 a.m. Homerooms will be posted on Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. MVES Warrior Day is Aug. 8 at the following times: Pre-K and kindergarten from 9-10 a.m., first grade from 10-11 a.m., second grade from 11 a.m.-noon and third grade from 8-9 a.m.

-Thompson Intermediate School has Warrior Day on July 27 from 7-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m..

-Thompson Sixth Grade Center has open house on Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The school also has schedule pickup on Aug. 3 from 8 a.m.-noon.

-Thompson Middle School has schedule pickup on Aug. 1 from 8-11 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. Tribe Day for new students and upcoming seventh-graders will be Aug. 2 from 9-11:30 a.m.

-Thompson High School has schedule pick up on Aug. 1 from 8-11 a.m. for 12th graders, 1-4 p.m. for 11th graders and on Aug. 2 from 8-11 a.m. for 10th graders and 1-4 p.m. for ninth-graders.
