Joseph Dean Garrett died Tuesday, Aug. 8 at the age of 42. He was a native and resident of Vincent.

Dean began playing the drums at the age of seven with his father’s gospel group, Southern Harmony Quartet, and continued to play even into the recent months. His love for southern gospel music and for the Word of God was shown in the fabric of his life. For many years he traveled with his family, serving the Lord in song with Southern Harmony. He was a faithful and dedicated employee of Garrett Pool for 25 years, supporting the family business. He was loved by many, a faithful friend, loving father, caring brother, and beloved son.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Dianne Garrett; sister, Dana Garrett Lewis (Brian); two sons, Jackson and Canaan Garrett; nephew, Alex Lewis; and niece, Lanie Lewis.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 at Vincent Revival Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. at Vincent Revival Center with graveside service to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Services will be officiated by Rev. Jason Allums.
