HELENA–It’s back. The sound of pads popping, helmets clashing, the smell of fresh cut grass and of course the atmosphere that makes high school football so special.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, family, friends and students packed the Helena High School football stadium to catch a first glimpse of what’s to come this football season.

The fourth annual Husky Day provided a fun atmosphere for those of all ages as several fun events were offered in addition to the two intrasquad scrimmages.

The Helena Athletic Association sponsored Husky Day and offered a number of different raffle prizes at $5 per ticket.

The HAA gave away memberships to the Helena Fitness Club, rounds of golf at Timberline Golf Club, HHS season tickets, two pole saws, a sportsman’s package from TS Arms, a Stihl backpack blower and two Yeti coolers.

Younger children in attendance had the chance to meet the varsity athletes by getting autographs and pictures with the players.

Helena Middle School and Helena High School athletic teams from different sports were acknowledged throughout both scrimmages as a kid’s zone with multiple inflatables was also available.

The action on the field included scrimmages between the HMS seventh and eighth grade teams, followed by a scrimmage between the HHS varsity, junior varsity and ninth grade teams.

The Helena High School varsity football team will next take on Ramsay in a pre-season game on Friday, Aug. 25 at HHS.
