HIS hosts back-to-school pancake social

HELENA–Pancakes were piled high the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 22, as Helena Intermediate School hosted a back-to-school pancake social for students and families.
The pancake social was sponsored by McDonald’s of Helena and meant to be a fundraiser for the school. Those who came dined in the school cafeteria and were treated to pancakes, sausage and a choice of either water or hot coffee.
The cost for the pancake social was $6 at the door or $5 in advance for all-you-can-eat pancakes as a portion of the funds collected went toward the school.
Helena McDonald’s owner and operator Jason Black, manager Richard Pustaver and marketing director Stephanie Drew all came to the school to help serve the pancakes and interact with those at the social.
“The school will get $2.50 for every ticket that is redeemed and they will keep the entire amount if the ticket is not redeemed,” Black said of the fundraiser.
Helena Intermediate School principal Kathy Paiml said the largest fundraiser of the year would happen later in the year for the coin drop fundraiser but things like the pancake social still helps the school reach certain financial goals to make improvements.
“The funds raised from the pancake social will help us get new P.E. equipment as well as a track and new fitness stations,” Paiml said.
