Local accommodations available for Hurricane Irma evacuees

The Alabama Tourism Department recently released a listing of available accommodations across the state for Hurricane Irma evacuees. As of Monday, Sept. 11, almost 20 hotels, motels, RV parks and campgrounds in Shelby County currently have vacancy:

 

Birmingham:

–Days Inn, located on U.S. 280, currently has vacancies. Days Inn is pet friendly and wheelchair accessible.

–Hyatt Place, located on U.S. 280 East, is open to evacuees. While it is not open to pets, it is wheelchair accessible.

–Oak Mountain Lodge on U.S. 280 East in the Inverness area has available rooms. It is both pet friendly and wheelchair accessible.

–Oak Mountain Lodge on U.S. 31 in the Riverchase area is open, can accommodate pets and is wheelchair accessible.

–Quality Inn and Suites of Inverness, located on Key Drive, does not accept pets, but is wheelchair accessible.

–Residence Inn on Greenhill Parkway in the Inverness area is open to pets and is wheelchair accessible.

–Wingate by Wyndham of Inverness on Corporate Ridge Drive is open to evacuees. Pets are not allowed, and Wingate can accommodate those who use wheelchairs.

 

Calera:

–Rolling Hills RV Park, located on Shelby County 304, has space available. It can accommodate pets or wheelchairs.

–America’s Best Value Inn and Suites is open to pets, wheelchair accessible and currently has 24 units available.

–Hampton Inn on Metro Drive currently has four king units available.

 

Columbiana:

–Columbiana Inn Bed and Breakfast on East College Street has two rooms open to evacuees. It cannot accommodate pets or wheelchairs.

–The Alabama 4-H Center on 4-H Road has about 40 open units.

 

Montevallo:

–Fox and Pheasant Bed and Breakfast Inn on Shelby Street currently has three openings.

–University Inn Suites is also available.

 

Pelham:

–Birmingham South Campground on Alabama 33 currently has “a few sites” listed. It is pet friendly and wheelchair accessible.

–Oak Mountain State Park currently has 30 open tent sites. It is located on Terrace Drive.
