One fatality reported in Westover wreck

WESTOVER – A Sylacauga man was killed in a wreck involving two vehicles on U.S. 280 in Westover at around 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 41-year-old Robert Lee Rumsey was killed after the 1990 Mercedes he was driving struck the rear of a 2001 Kenworth tractor trailer. ALEA troopers determined that Rumsey was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Rumsey was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer did not sustain any injuries.

ALEA is currently investigating the incident.
