PELHAM – The First Baptist Church of Pelham is hosting a revival worship event called the Harvest from Sunday, Oct. 22 through Wednesday, Oct. 25. Senior Pastor Daven Watkins said the event will serve as an outreach to the community.

“Historically, revivals have been used by churches to get people refocused and rejuvenated in their walk with Christ,” Watkins said.

During the revival, visitors will hear sermons from preachers Reginald Calvert of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Bessemer, Kevin Hamm of Gardendale Baptist Church, Beeson Divinity School Professor of Preaching Robert Smith, Adam Dooley of First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale in Texas and Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association founder Scott Dawson. Watkins said he invited each of them to preach because of his past experiences with them.

“I know all of them personally. They are some of my good friends,” Watkins said. “I know they have a message to proclaim, and that message will be relevant and inspiring.”

In the past, Watkins said FBCP would hold revivals on an annual basis, but became less and less frequent over the years.

“People in churches get too busy and it’s probably not a priority,” Watkins said. “Most people make time for what they prioritize.”

All of the revival services will be held at the church. Services on Oct. 22 will be held at 9:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Services on Oct. 23-25 will be held at 6:30 p.m.

“Our hope and prayer is that it will bring a genuine revival where people are more focused on Jesus Christ and more intentional about sharing the gospel,” Watkins said.
