CHELSEA – Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to a vehicle accident that occurred on U.S. 280 near the Chelsea Park Area at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.

According to ALEA Cpl. Steve Smith, a Childersberg woman was killed after the vehicle she was driving swerved the road and hit a tree for unknown reasons.

Smith said ALEA troopers are currently investigating the cause of the accident. The driver’s name is being withheld until the ALEA can notify next of kin.
