NORTH SHELBY – Shelby County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking for a group of young men suspected of vandalizing the Heardmont Park Senior Activity Center.

At about 1 a.m. on Dec. 10, at least three subjects broke into the center and caused more than $500 in damages, SCSO Community Outreach Officer Debbie Sumrall said.

The subjects, thought to be young males, were caught on surveillance footage inside the building but kept their faces covered.

SCSO has released surveillance images in hopes someone comes forward to provide information about the suspects.

In the images, the subjects are wearing similar clothing: black and white pants and pullover jackets with hoods. On the back of one jacket is a symbol that appears to be bones or oars crossed to form an “X.”

Sumrall declined to provide information about the damage caused because the publication of such information could be detrimental to the investigation.

All of the damage was done to the inside of the building, Sumrall said.

“Many seniors gather in this facility weekly to socialize and eat dinner, and to think that their meeting place was interrupted…it’s unfortunate,” she said.

The suspects could face charges including burglary and criminal mischief.
