Police investigating hotel robbery

HOOVER – Hoover police are investigating an early-morning hotel robbery off U.S. 280.

At 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, police were notified of an armed robbery at Hyatt Place hotel, located at 4686 U.S. 280, according to a press release from Hoover Police Department.

Hotel staff reported that a black male wearing a grey hoodie, gold glasses and his face covered entered the hotel and went behind the front counter.

He tried to open a cash drawer but was unsuccessful, according to HPD.

The suspect then went to kitchen area, where he encountered two employees.

He pulled a handgun, led the employees to the front desk and demanded they open the register.

The suspect took cash from the register and left the area.

There were no injuries, according to HPD.
