HELENA–Despite the delayed start due the recent wintry weather, Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Church is now offering yoga classes to the public.

The yoga classes are oriented toward the gentle style of yoga and one class is geared toward yoga for Seniors.

All classes feature techniques to enhance breathing, flexibility, balance, strengthening and postural alignment. Yoga has been said to improve overall health and relaxation.

The classes are taught by Laura Thornton of Helena. Thornton has taught yoga for more than 10 years and practiced for 30 years. She is credentialed as an Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher. Thornton has taught in churches, community centers, schools and at a substance abuse rehabilitation facility, as well as private lessons. She is also a retired public school teacher.

Special fees are being offered for the remainder of January. Fees are $9 per class for gentle yoga at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, and Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The senior class fee will be $7 for Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. Adults of all ages, men and women, are invited to either class. These classes are appropriate for beginners.

Regularly scheduled classes for Tuesdays and Thursdays for the upcoming months will be announced.
