HHS honors 10 athletes in signing day ceremony

HELENA–Helena High School had a big day the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 7, as 10 seniors across five different sports were honored during a National Signing Day assembly at the school.

The HHS gymnasium was packed with administrators, teachers, coaches, students and parents as the athletes were honored for their hard work and dedication to make it to the next level.

Helena High School Principal April Brand said the last four years were special watching each student grow and mature.

“I want to say how proud I am of them and how much I’ve enjoyed watching them grow, develop and mature in the last four years,” Brand said. “I can’t wait to see what they do the rest of their lives and I know you will make Helena proud, your community, your parents and our school proud so thank you again.”

In all, Helena had three softball players, three baseball players, two football players, one volleyball player and one girls basketball player sign a letter of intent.

Softball

–Jamie Gregg, Mississippi State University

–Katie Lively, Troy University

–Makenzie (KK) Wilson, Bevill State

Baseball

–Richard Fitts, Auburn University

–Landon Green, University of Alabama

–Nick Ragsdale, Shelton State

Football

–Taylor Knight, Huntington

–Leonard Tucker, Birmingham Prep

Volleyball

–Madison Rhodes, Wallace State

Girls Basketball

–Jordan Jones, University of Montevallo

Each Helena High School coach of every individual player had nothing but great things to say about each athlete and in response, the students thanked their coaches, teammates and family for helping them achieve their goals.
