ALABASTER – Thompson High School senior Sidney Adams will continue her softball career in-state next year, after she inked a scholarship with Bevill State Community College in Sumiton during a Feb. 7 ceremony at THS.

Adams signed her letter of intent during a ceremony in the school’s library while surrounded by a legion of friends, family members, teammates and teachers.

The 1 p.m. signing was the second of three held at THS on National Signing Day, as eight THS football players signed during a morning ceremony, and THS soccer player Melanie Brannon signed during a ceremony at 2:15 p.m.

“Days like today, it’s probably the most special moment you can have as a principal or a coach because you get to see in one moment all this hard work and all this sacrifice, all the hours, all the travel, everything it takes to get to this point. And now here it is,” said THS Principal Dr. Wesley Hester. “We are very proud of you, and we wish you all the best in the future.”

THS assistant softball coach Jordan Burson thanked Adams for her contributions to the team’s success over the past several years.

“We are super proud of Sidney. She is a great leader on our team, and we are super thankful to have her,” Burson said. “We wish you all the best.”
