MT LAUREL – Mt Laurel and Coosa Riverkeeper will welcome the beginning of spring with a Sunset Wine & Cheese Hike on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Experience the natural beauty of Mt Laurel during the Sunset Wine and Cheese Hike. Now in its second year, this popular event brings Mt Laurel and Coosa Riverkeeper together to present a unique social hike around the tree-lined streets of Mt Laurel.

Proceeds from this event benefit Coosa Riverkeeper.

“We are so grateful that we are able to come to work every day in the beautiful Mt Laurel, to advocate for the river we love. The Wine and Cheese Hike brings together our staff, members and the community of Mt Laurel to be involved in the fight for swimmable, fishable and drinkable waters,” said Karli Riley, program manager at Coosa Riverkeeper.

New this year, attendees are invited to gather at the Coosa Riverkeeper’s office located at 102 Croft Street.

Justinn Overton, Executive Director of the Coosa Riverkeeper, will present a brief discussion of the organization’s mission to protect the Coosa River and its tributaries. At 5:30 p.m., the hike will begin from the Coosa Riverkeeper office. The group will walk about 1.5 miles through the beautiful tree-lined streets and squares of Mt Laurel.

This social hike will be led by Alex Varner with the Nature Conservancy. Varner will discuss the native terrain, trees, and plants found in Mt Laurel. This nature walk will allow guests to slow down and take in the beauty of Bryson Arboretum, Abbott Square and other distinct places in Mt Laurel.

Afterwards, guests will dine on wine, craft beer, flavorful cheeses and hors d’oeuvres under the stars at Bryson Square.

Organizers thanked contributing sponsors Trader Joe’s and The Fresh Market.

Reservations are required and space is limited so please purchase tickets early. Gather at the Coosa Riverkeeper’s office starting at 5 p.m. and the hike will begin at 5:30 p.m.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Coosa Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, restore, and promote the Coosa River and its tributaries in Alabama.
