Helena man faces felony after allegedly choking spouse

COLUMBIANA–A 42-year-old Helena man remains in the Shelby County Jail and faces a felony domestic violence charge after he was arrested on Tuesday, March 20.

The Helena Police Department arrested John Wesley Henry V, who lists an address on the 100 block of Countryside Lane in Helena, and charged him with one felony count of domestic violence by strangulation/suffocation.

According to Henry’s arrest warrant, on March 15, he allegedly “Committed or attempted to commit the crime of domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation by assaulting the victim with the intent to cause physical harm.”

Domestic violence by strangulation/suffocation is a Class B felony, and Henry could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

As of March 20, Henry remains in the Shelby County Jail on bond totaling $15,000
