PELHAM – Scuba diving enthusiasts and those interested in trying scuba diving are invited to attend Demo Day at Blue Water Park on April 7 at 10 a.m.

The event will feature scuba diving equipment manufacturers, training agencies and other dive related businesses ready to demonstrate technical dive gear and talk to visitors about diving. Richard Black with Florida Dive Connection said visitors will learn how to set up technical dive gear and the physiology of diving among other things.

Admission into the park is free and lunch will be provided. For those who want to try scuba diving, there is a fee of $27 to dive for the day.

While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary – just show up at Blue Water Park ready to dive beneath the surface.

There will be three time slots to go scuba diving, 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. with limited space in each. Call 822-2121 to reserve a spot. No walk-ins will be accepted. You must be at least 10 years old and be in reasonable physical health.

From 10-10:30 a.m., guests will have an opportunity to let scuba expert John McCain, of Dive Rive, test, tune and make adjustments to their gear. From 11:30 a.m. to noon, there will be a light maintenance and repair clinic with Bobby Franklin of Underwater Light Dude, and from 1:30-2 p.m. Black will teach a Reel and Line Clinic to help visitors get some practical knowledge on reel and line for overhead environment diving.

At the end of the day, visitors will gather around a camp fire with industry experts to talk and answer questions about scuba diving. Guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs.
