Shelby County placed under tornado, flash flood watches

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Shelby County effective until 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14.

Severe storms are expected to move across Shelby and surrounding counties in the central part of the state Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening.

Damaging winds and tornadoes will be the main threats to these areas, according to the NWS.

Shelby County is also under a flash flood watch until 1 a.m. Sunday, April 15. Three to four inches of rainfall could result in flooding.
