Johnny Ray Stamps, age 67 of Calera, passed away Wednesday, April 11. He was born on Oct. 17, 1950.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Alma (Garrett) Stamps and his loving wife, Carol Yvonne (Lee) Stamps.

He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Seagle (Harold), Randi Smitherman (Jason), Reagan Porter (Chris), Elaine Carroll (Breck), Jamie Gaines (Adam); his twin sister, Alma Faye Stamps; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Johnny was a devoted father and grandfather, as well as a loving husband to his late wife. He was a lifelong Shelby County resident. He attended Camp Branch and Thompson High School.

He provided for his family by working as a car salesman / manager for 30 plus years until retirement. He enjoyed the company of friends and family, working in the yard, camping, grilling a good steak, and go-kart racing on family vacations. He was a man who was always having fun and fun to be around.

There will be a visitation held in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home on Monday, April 16 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the graveside in Nabors Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Phillip Rabren officiating. Charterfuneral.com.
