Larry “Slim” Pearce, age 77, of Alabaster, passed away Friday, April 13.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Bolton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 18 at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Columbiana City Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Larry was a well-known businessman who owned and operated two Gulf-BP gas stations in Shelby County. He operated Gulf Mart in Pelham in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and later operated the Columbiana BP gas station. He was the operating partner of Southern Leisure Mobile Homes in Pelham with the late Milton “Bucket” White. Later, he joined his son, Chip Pearce, as a salesman and manager for Pearce and Associates Auction Company until he retired.

Larry Pearce will be remembered by thousands of customers and friends as a kind gentleman who never met a stranger. Larry’s joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Pearce is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Eugene Pearce and Evelyn Owen Pearce; and son, Robert David Pearce.

He is survived by his sons, Larry W. “Chip” Pearce (Cindy) and Steven L. Pearce (Kristy); sister, Debbie Pearce Adair (Jerry); and grandchildren, Andrew David Pearce (January), Nathan Aaron Pearce, Madelyn Elizabeth Pearce, Steven “Rance” Pearce, and Anna Reese Pearce.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega.
