ALABASTER – An upcoming family friendly event will help to raise money for one of Alabaster’s most successful sports programs, and will feature food from a popular local restaurant.

The Thompson High School wrestling program will host its second-annual Daddy-Daughter Dance on Saturday, April 28, in the auxiliary gymnasium of the former Thompson High School campus on Warrior Drive.

The dance will be held from 6-9 p.m., and event organizers are asking attendees to park and enter the gym from the school’s back parking lot.

Cost for the dance is $20 per couple, and is $5 for each additional daughter. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats will be served, and the event will be catered by the Alabaster-based Lazy Boy BBQ. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their Sunday best.

The registration form for the dance is available on the Alabaster City Schools and Thompson Wrestle Facebook pages, and is due by Monday, April 23.

The Thompson wrestling program has won, by far, the most state championships out of any team in the school’s history, winning four Class 6A state championships and two Class 7A state championships over the past eight years. The team earned its most recent 7A state title on Feb. 17 by finishing 27 points ahead of runner-up Central-Phenix City to claim the 2017-2018 state title.
